Serving the Earth and contributing to the development of sustainable livestock farming

At Mixscience we have a simple yet ambitious mission: Serve the Earth.

Every day, we innovate to create value for our customers. Working alongside them, we are fully committed to developing sustainable livestock farming that is economically efficient, respectful of animal health and welfare, preserves the environment, and produces feed of the highest health and nutritional quality. Taking action for the climate, for farming practices that respect the planet, and for a collective and inclusive project – these are the three key commitments that guide our initiatives.

Our expertise

A unique combination of know‑how shaped by a long heritage in animal nutrition

Integrated capabilities within a fully in‑house R&D structure

Our expertise stems from a long-standing heritage in animal nutrition, which has enabled us to develop a deep understanding of livestock production, species, and nutrition. Today, our products and services reflect a unique know‑how built on a range of complementary skills, including the selection of ingredients derived from phytogenics, microbiology, oleochemistry, and active‑ingredient vectorization.

Our 100% in-house R&D drives innovation by drawing on a multidisciplinary team, dedicated tools and infrastructure, and, more broadly, the expertise of AVRIL to create a true collaborative hub that fosters knowledge sharing, accelerates projects, and boosts the growth of our developments.

R&D and innovation

Expertise in advanced delivery systems with VSTAR Technologies

Over the past 10 years, Mixscience has developed extensive expertise in vectorization – VSTAR Technologies. Its mission is to preserve and ensure the full potential of active ingredients. As a true distillation of our galenic formulation and zootechnical knowledge, as well as our mastery of industrial vectorization processes, VSTAR Technologies ensures the stability of active ingredients under industrial conditions at the feed manufacturer’s facility while also delivering improved performance in livestock through gradual release kinetics in the animal’s digestive tract.

Biocontrol for sustainable health animal management

At Mixscience we believe that the future of livestock farming lies in natural, effective, and sustainable solutions. As pioneers in biocontrol and with extensive scientific expertise, we have developed a range of patented solutions based on beneficial bacteria, designed to address the sustainability challenges facing the livestock industry and animal welfare, and to support farmers in achieving sustainable health animal management.

Barrier flora

  • Reducing the use of chemicals

Biocontrol is based on a simple principle: beneficial bacteria colonize the environment in which they grow to “occupy the territory” and limit pathogens, thereby creating stable and protective microbial ecosystems.

  • Barrier flora for all sectors

Exclusively formulated using proprietary bacterial strains, our barrier flora promote the natural balance of microbial populations and boost the performance and well-being of ruminants, pigs, poultry, rabbits, and aquaculture. These products offer a practical and sustainable alternative to chemical inputs and are an effective tool for improving technical and economic performance as well as livestock health management.

Quality excellence

Industry and quality are at the heart of our commitment and our operations at our industrial sites in Château-Gontier-sur-Mayenne, Bourg Beaudoin, Saint-Aignan-sur-Roë in France, and Santo Antônio de Posse in Brazil (Salus). The reliability of our products is based on a rigorous selection of ingredients and suppliers, complemented by strict internal controls that ensure feed safety and the stability of active ingredients.

Industrial reliability: certifications, cleanroom line, and pilot plant

Our dedicated production lines are certified to international standards (RCNA OQUALIM, FCA OVOCOM) and ensure compliance with good hygiene practices and HACCP principles. Manufacturing our standard premixes on a dedicated cleanroom line allows us to meet the requirements of sensitive markets such as pet food and equine feed. An in-house pilot plant enables us to validate product stability and compliance before industrial-scale production.

EcoVadis-certified suppliers

Our suppliers undergo a structured certification process, including international certifications, audits, and CSR criteria, with the goal of achieving widespread EcoVadis certification by 2030. Finally, our production sites, certified by RCNA International (Oqualim) and FCA (Ovocom), apply rigorous manufacturing practices and hold the necessary certifications for organic farming and compliance with non-GMO technical standards.
