Context

Forage forms a significant portion of a ruminant’s diet, and is required both for its fibrous content—which is essential for rumination—and for its nutritional value. Controlling ruminant nutrition therefore begins with a precise understanding of the characteristics of each type of forage used in livestock production. Mixscience offers its partners a comprehensive and reliable forage nutritional analysis service, in direct collaboration with its reference laboratory. However, in some cases, the feed manufacturer or livestock producer must utilize forage analyses conducted by other laboratories.

  • With the Flexi’Fodder web portal, Mixscience enables its partners to convert the results of a forage’s chemical analysis into nutritional values, and then import this data into Mixscience’s rationing software.

Deliverables

  • Comprehensive list of forage types available in the tool, for which nutritional values are automatic
  • Complete report of a forage’s values. It includes laboratory analysis results, nutritional values from the Mixscience system, and INRAE nutritional values
  • File intended for import into the Mixscience rationing software

Key features

Flexi’Fodder serves as a gateway into Mixscience’s ruminant nutrition system. This system is based on rigorous, long-term research conducted at Mixscience’s facilities: the Mixscience Research Center and Innolab.

Flexi’Fodder is compatible with Mixscience’s rationing software. Using both tools guarantees the nutritionist excellent prediction of livestock performance.

Flexi’Fodder users have access to a wide selection of forages, whether in terms of forage types (corn, legumes, grasses, mixtures) or preservation methods (silage, wrapped bales, fermentation, pre-drying, etc.)

The report layout is clear, customizable (with the option to insert the company logo), and educational: icons highlight expected standards and classify the analyzed forage.

The Flexi’Fodder tool is user-friendly and easy to access:an internet connection and a login ID are all the user needs.
