More than 100 participants at SGMP & Mixscience seminar in Congo to mobilize the pig and poultry sectors and accelerate farm performance

In June 2026, SGMP and Mixscience brought together more than one hundred farmers in Pointe-Noire and then in Brazzaville for two major technical seminars. These events confirmed a strong momentum: providing concrete support for the upskilling and performance improvement of Congo’s livestock sectors.

Hands-on engagement directly with farmers

Alongside SGMP‘s commercial teams, our experts — Abou Koné, Mixscience veterinarian responsible for technical outreach in West and Central Africa, and Gaël Goasdoué, a pig specialist renowned for his field experience in Africa — led highly practical sessions focused on the key challenges of pig and poultry production.

The objective was clear: to provide practical, tailored answers that can be applied directly in the field, covering the following topics:

  1. Understanding the fundamentals of livestock farming
  2. Using complete, balanced, and safe feed
  3. Adopting good farm management practices

Pig production: strengthening technical foundations

  • Nutritional requirements during growth
  • Performance-limiting factors
  • Optimisation of SGMP programmes
  • Feed cost management

Poultry production: securing the start-up phase

Concrete solutions, tailored to the realities of Congolese farmers:

  • Day-old chick management
  • Chick quality and farm reception
  • Feed and water management
  • Environment and lighting management
  • Start-up checklists

Building high-performing and sustainable livestock sectors

The participation of the Departmental Directorates of Livestock highlighted a broader challenge: the structuring and development of high-performing and sustainable national livestock sectors. By recalling CADYST’s motto — “Be better” — SGMP reaffirmed its ambition: to help farmers progress towards greater professionalisation, performance, and competitiveness.

This vision is built on a conviction shared with Mixscience:

  • Quality feed
  • Regular technical support
  • Upskilling of farmers

A dynamic at the heart of the SGMP–Mixscience partnership

Beyond the technical content, these seminars illustrate the strength of the partnership between SGMP and Mixscience:

  • Farmer mobilisation
  • Complementarity of pig and poultry expertise
  • Direct impact on practices
  • Commitment of sector stakeholders

Through these seminars, Mixscience reaffirms its mission as a committed partner: combining nutritional solutions and technical expertise to actively contribute to the development of African livestock sectors.
